Vehicle Description 1986 Toyota MR2 - Mid-Engine Icon, AW11 Chassis
The original pocket rocket. Toyota's first mid-engine production car, developed with Lotus DNA and a 4A-GE twin-cam heart that redefined what a small car could do. This is a proper enthusiast piece - the wedge silhouette, the pop-up headlights, the mid-mounted screamer of an engine sitting an inch behind your ear.
What it is: 1.6L 4A-GE inline-four, rear-wheel drive, mid-engine layout Coupe body, black on black Ohio car, long-term local history 18 documented service records on Carfax, mostly at Tansky's Sawmill Toyota and Toyota West.
What you need to know upfront: This car wears a Not Actual Mileage (NAM) Ohio title. The odometer currently reads 39,986 - but this is a 5-digit mechanical odometer on a 40-year-old car, and it has rolled over. Carfax shows 161,000 documented miles back in 2009 at Toyota West. Actual lifetime mileage is unknown and almost certainly north of 200,000. NAM brand carries forward on the new title. Priced accordingly - this is an enthusiast car sold with full disclosure, full Carfax available on request.
Why it still matters: AW11s are appreciating. Clean examples are getting harder to find every year, and the enthusiast community around these cars is strong - parts support, forums, meets, the whole ecosystem. This is a driver-grade example with real history, not a garage queen and not a project. Somebody's going to buy this, drive it, love it, and prob |
